The readings and classroom clips this week are going
to focus on something that my students say is one of the most useful writing
techniques they've ever learned. Constructing sentences
so they move from old information
to new information. I first encountered
this technique thanks to a wonderful
group of folks in the University of Chicago writing program back when I
was in law school. And I'm excited that by engaging
with the assigned materials, you'll get to benefit
from what they taught me. I'm also excited to see your own approach
to sentence flow. You'll notice in the assignments, that mine involves references to figures as different
as Benjamin Franklin, Maya Angelou, and former Supreme Court
nominee, Robert Bork.
